I am like a steam locomotive.
I was designed to handle tremendous loads and to reach my destination regardless of the distance or obstacles in my path. While I am somewhat outdated and there are definitely newer, faster, and stronger models available, I am still capable of amazing feats.
It takes me a little longer than it used to to come up to speed. But, once I get rolling, I am virtually unstoppable.
I require regular stoking with quality fuel (nutrition) in order to perform at my best.
I am strong and powerful.
I am sometimes slow to start but as I keep "chugging" along, my momentum increases and I am capable of great speed and endurance.
I require regular maintenance to achieve top form.
On a well designed track (program), I perform very well. If I should happen to fall off my track (program), it may take a lot of time and effort to become righted and regain momentum, but, as long as I avoid major "crashes", and continue to maintain and fuel my powerplant, I can continue to progress indefinitely.
I enjoy changing tracks from time to time, as this allows me to experience new thrills and challenges. I have found that there are many possible routes to my destination. Some are longer and slower while others are more direct but require more effort. I am able to choose and/or change my route as necessary and still complete my journey.
I am sometimes loud and I occasionally creak and groan under pressure. However, all of my efforts on the uphill are rewarded with opportunities for improved performance and rest once I complete the climb.
Some people wonder that I am still functioning. Others are surprised by what I am capable of. Yet, those who understand see that I am simply striving to accomplish what I was designed for.
I am not the strongest, yet I am strong. I am not the fastest, yet I am fast. I am not flashy or sleek, yet I am well designed. I am not new (young), yet I am capable.
I am a steam locomotive!

A Shepard,

Ever being mindful of the flock, knowing it is you and only you that not only protect, but also cultivate that oneness within. Watching from the inside as each and every small hill every valley every tree line proposes a new and unexpected challenge. They come in all forms some my be as mice which scurry through the legs not making much of a fuss or even being noticed; the rabbits and the birds which you look upon and know by watching your flock that things are well. A Shepard's life is surrounded by its first duty, to watch over in which he is in trusted and by being ever so convicted to that duty can he ever be that Shepard which he has in his heart. In following the Shepard's wisdom in which I was taught as a small boy watching and listening to my Father and other shepard's as they speak to one another guiding one another protecting one another but listening to one another intently knowing that each and every thought that concerns there flock concerns their Life. Listen to your flock, make every step be that protecting step for each and every step has meaning for the future of your flock, be that guide be that light when there is none... Always be on the edge of your flock seeking to keep away hidden dangers.

Always

I am like a fart. I may come from behind but get noticed fast. People want to hide me, but cannot. When I want to be recognized, I am. I have been scoffed at, joked about, ridiculed, but keep coming back. I can bring tears to your eyes, cause a child to laugh, induce a smile or frown, or embarrass myself. I can be silent, but stand out in a crowd. I need not say much, but when I speak, one sound says it all. There is more to me than a superficial first impression. What I consist of can change lives. Bring heat and comfort, cook food, propel equipment. To do this, I must be altered. To be changed from one state to another. At first, I may appear useless. But in the hands of the skillfully, my state can be changed to do wonderful things. This can only be done by the faith people have in me, to see my potential, and draw from me the good things. To take me from being a joke, a nuisance, undesirable, and help alter me into the useful, enjoyable and practical. Those who take interest in me deserve the credit, I only supplied the raw material and desire. A raw material that may seem useless to some. People are like farts. In the right hands with those of faith and knowledge wonderful things can be accomplished. The superficial judgments of individuals may scoff at the disadvantaged. Never laugh at someone who is down. Someday they may surprise everyone.

I, my friends, am like a kid (and I should know - I have 5 of them!).
Ever watch a child learning to walk? They fall and they pick themselves right back up and keep trying. They never, never give up and just keep going straight for their goal. That's me. When I get knocked down I just pick myself up, dust myself off and GET BACK ON THE HORSE (to mix my metaphors).
Kids don't get jaded and coarse to the world around them and I am the same. I try to see the beauty and the newness in everything and to appreciate God's goodness in giving me what I have.
Kids love to do physical things and so do I. A day without the gym is a tough day for me...
Kids love junk food and so do I. AUGHHHHHHH! My downfall. No matter. After a junk food day/meal I can always go back to eating properly. After all, each moment can be a new start.

I am like PHOENIX, rising from the ashes!

I started out a small, timid bird. Neglected and a victim of the cruel nature of life.
One day, barely able to fly, I made a wrong turn and ended up crashing and burning in an abandoned field. Alone. In pain (mostly just my pride).
Then, with the heat of the fire tempering my spirit, I began to feel the anger from both the injustice of what I had experienced and anger at my allowing it to come to this!

Slowly I examined my past and my current situation. Collecting my feathers, I pulled myself up onto my talons and examined myself.
I was somehow changed by the crash and the fire! I was no longer a tiny, victimized bird!
My feathers, though coated with traces of ashes from the fire all around me, were transformed into the full beauty from the inside of me. They were full and colorful!
I suddenly felt incredibly strong, lean and powerful! I have become my full potential! No more will I settle for whatever life deems that I am worth, accepting whatever I can get and what others think of me!

Finally, I am able to put away what has been and soar straight up from the fire and continue my flight to my destiny!

I am like the Wind.

Often, I am like a gentle breeze, just noticeable, but not overwhelming. I work steadily to achieve goals, one day at a time.

Sometimes I am calm, in the background, and not working at all.

Other times, I am a full blown gale. I work with great dilligence to achieve goals, letting nothing get in my way. During these periods, I am a role model for all, but this level of intensity is short term and cannot be sustained.

So, I will mainly remain a gentle breeze and calmly, steadily, work toward my goals. It is in this state that I can truly reach and sustain my goals and it is this method that will serve as the best example for my children and peers.

I am a sunflower. I am just a little one for now, but I know I'll grow up. Now, I am small but I always look for the sun to grow big, whereever it is. I take the positive part, I take the sun and the water I can get and I am happy with it, even if others can find the temperature too high to tink about growing up. I take the positive side of evetithing, even difficulties. I don't want to grow up just for myself, I want to be able to give seeds to feed others.

A flower is not a lot of thing in the word but if I can put a little bit of sun on others lifes, my life is full even if I didn't change the whole world. I do my best and all I can. I'm not lazy or selfish.

Right now, I know I am bigger than I was yesterday and smaller than tomorrow. I want to be the best I can be without being someone else. I'm simple. I'm me and it's ok.

I'm not perfect. My leaves have some insects and my petals sometimes fall. It's life, but nothing will stop me to be better tomorrow. I've decided to be like the sun that nourish me.
(Sorry for the mistakes, english is not my main language)
